The most prevalent anxiety disorder in the United States is Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), followed closely by Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) and Specific Phobias.

However, if we focus on lifetime prevalence:

Specific Phobias are technically the most common anxiety disorders, affecting approximately 12% of the U.S. population at some point in their lives.

Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) affects about 7% annually and 12% lifetime prevalence.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) affects around 3% annually and has a 5–6% lifetime prevalence.

So, while Specific Phobias are the most common overall, Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) are also highly prevalent.
